It's deuterocanonical, but definitely in the Catholic Bible. I am not sure if I recommend it to you or not, it's one of the more novella-like historical books, and quite a nice exemplar of that sort of late period Exilic literature. But I think you might not get on well with the disability narrative; it's a bit tragedy and miraculous cure type of arc.
